Is getting implants painful?The installation process of dental implants is considered a very minor surgery. The patient will be given a powerful and effective local anesthetic, to avoid any discomfort during the actual surgery. Due to the patient having stitches in the gum, and the normal healing process, there will likely be some minor discomfort present in the week following the surgery. This can usually be controlled by over-the-counter pain relievers, but always consult your dentist before taking anything for pain.
