British dental system overload

As pressure builds on the British dental care system, more and more people seek outside Britain for their dentistry works. Statistics show only one NHS dentist to every two and half thousand people in Britain. No wonder the dentists are cracking under the strain.

Private health insurance, big costs

Two million Britains can’t even register with the NHS, and private heath costs a lot. Dentists are so busy some flatly refuse to take on new patients. Lack of service equates to exorbitant charges. Dentists in Britain already perform one three million extractions a year, fill one thousand teeth every hour and see patients at the rate or one every ten minutes.

No time for personal care

These rates result in lack of personal attention, big prices and possibly rushed work which may add to patient discomfort. So what is the answer to your visit to the dentist?

Poland can provide quality care

Highly trained dentists in Krakow can provide you with the service you need, and they will make going to the dentist pleasurable. With ample staff, high tech equipment and world quality materials they will even organize your travel and accommodation. Whoever thought going to the dentist could be a holiday as well?

A fraction of the cost

By far the greatest determining factor is cost. Lower operating costs in Poland mean you get a world class level of treatment at a bargain basement price. They don’t compromise on material costs. For example the implants they use are the best in the world and guaranteed for 10 years. In fact the move to Polish dentistry from other countries is so huge companies have set up dental travel services.

Compare prices

If you can get on the NHS, a fairly simple procedure of a crown will cost around 60 pounds. Privately in the U.K it would cost almost four times that at 250 pounds. Privately in Poland it would cost the equivalent of 100 pounds. Plus the more treatment you have in Poland the more you will save. Gilly Beckett had 8 root canal fillings, 3 crowns, two plates, one month’s accommodations and some sightseeing in Krakow, costing her a total of 1800 pounds.

Plan ahead, and research your clinic

Naturally, you can’t just turn up to a clinic in Krakow and expect same day treatment. Procedures do need to be planned ahead and scheduled accordingly. So contact your chosen clinic for more information. The British Dental Association has a few points of advice.

  • Make sure the dentist is fully qualified
  • Make sure you get their PWZ number. This is basically their right to practice number. You can check it on the internet or email the Polish Chamber of Physicians and Dentists.
  • Have a checkup first with the dentist. He should suggest follow up check ups as well and you can factor this into your time away. Quality clinics will provide all this up front.
  • See if there are any knock-on costs from your procedures you may need to factor in overall costing.

Smile and the world smiles with you…

You can’t get on the NHS for cosmetic procedures  such as whitening, which takes about an hour. In Britain this would have cost Dominic 500 pounds, but in Krakow he had it done in and hour along with his initial checkup, for 350 pounds. Then he came away with whitening that lasts 3 years and a diagnosis of needing 3 fillings re-done. Which meant he could plane his exact time and costs to travel back and have it done. Plus enjoy some more of the wonderful sightseeing Krakow has to offer.
